Dr. Boyle is a Professor of Pediatrics and attending neonatologist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UVa. He has been a member of the medical center’s Ethics Committee since 1989 and of the Ethics Consultation Service since it’s inception in 1987 and Chair since 1991. He is the author of multiple chapters in “Introduction to Clinical Ethics” (University Publishing Group, 1995 and 1997) and was an organizing member of the faculty and co-director for the First Year Medicine “Introduction to Clinical Ethics” course. He has been an invited lecturer and is the author/co-author of multiple papers and chapters dealing predominantly with ethics consultation and ethics in the perinatal/neonatal patient. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Sections on Perinaltal Pediatrics and Bioethics and the Committee on Pediatric AIDS. He has been listed in the 2001 and 2002 editions of America's Top Doctors.
