The Division of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology treats adult and pediatric patients with asthma, as well as allergic and immunologic diseases of the respiratory tract and skin. Division members offer special expertise in asthma, hives, immunodeficiency diseases, respiratory fungal diseases, drug allergy, hay fever, and insect venom sensitivity. Laboratory services, provided through the Allergy Clinic, include cutaneous and intradermal skin testing, and comprehensive allergen immunotherapy. Thomas A.E. Platts-Mills, M.D., Ph.D. is Director of the UVA Asthma & Allergic Diseases Center and the head of the Adult Allergy Division.
