ADE Call for Abstracts on Medical Education Research
The Academy of Distinguished Educators (ADE) is sponsoring the 3rd Medical Education Research Day and Poster Session on Monday, February 12, 2007, with the poster session continuing on through Friday, February 16, 2007. As a part of this, we will have a reception on Feb 12th from 5:00-7:00 PM (Dean Garson will make opening remarks at 5:30) along with a poster session to highlight education research activity being performed at the UVa School of Medicine on any aspect of UME, GME or CME. The posters will be displayed for five days.
Deadline for Receipt of Abstracts: Monday, January 8, 2007, by 5:00 PM
Any faculty member, PhD or MD research fellow, clinical fellow, resident, graduate student or medical student who is involved in a medical education-related research project is invited to submit an abstract for presentation as a poster. This is an opportunity to publicize the entire range of educational research activities occurring at the School of Medicine and an opportunity for you to get some exposure for your work and some feedback from your colleagues. Poster abstracts will be reviewed by a committee of the ADE and you will be notified if yours has been accepted for inclusion in the Education Research Day Poster Session. The reviewer guidelines are listed on the next page. We particularly encourage recipients of education research grants from the ADE Educational Research Grant Program and the Innovations in Graduate Medical Education Grant Program to submit poster abstracts. You may present research that has already been presented at national meetings.
Abstracts should be submitted as a Word document and should fit on a single page (1 inch margins, Times New Roman font no smaller than 10 point).
Please use these headings:
1. Title, authors and affiliation.
2. Brief hypothesis/research question
3. Description of research design
4. Results and conclusions.
5. Source of funding (if any)
You are encouraged to include figures and tables but these must fit within the one page format.
Please e-mail your abstract(s) to Jim Martindale at jrm7e@Virginia.edu by 5:00 PM on Monday, January 8, 2007.
After an ADE committee has reviewed and ranked the abstracts, notifications of acceptance will be sent out by Wednesday, January 17, 2007. If there are any questions relating to the abstracts, please contact Bob Bloodgood rab4m@virginia.edu or James Martindale jrm7e@Virginia.EDU
