About

Topiramate

Few medications to treat alcoholism exist. Research shows that a drug called topiramate may reduce self-reported drinking and self-reported craving. Topiramate (marketing as Topamax® in the United States) is currently approved by the FDA for treatment of seizures and migraines. It is currently under investigation to determine its effectiveness in treating alcoholism, as well as other addictions.
