At the end of the two-week rotation, all students will take a computer-based test of 50 questions.  Testable material will be taken from the group and individual sessions and will be extrapolated from the list of course goals and objectives.

Complete required components of both the Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine Passports.

Medical students must participate in a Student Case Report project that will be presented and graded on Friday of their second week.  The grade will be based on the following:

Was a clinical question asked?

Was a clinical question answered?

Did the student put sufficient effort into project?

Grade will be based on faculty and staff evaluations. You will need to do a total of four evaluations for our teaching staff (2 on faculty and 2 on supervising staff i.e. Residents, Nurses & Techs).  Drs. Shilling and Plautz will be doing your evaluations.

Students must participate in all individual and group sessions, and exhibit utmost professionalism during patient care.  Any absences must have legitimate excuses. Students will also complete an end-of-course evaluation of both the clerkship and involved faculty within two weeks of course completion.

APPEALS PROCESS

If a student does not feel that a given evaluation or the final grade accurately reflects their performance on the clerkship, the student should first talk with the course director about these concerns. The student will be asked to write a letter to the course director, after which the specific questions or problem areas will be reviewed. This may include asking attendings or residents to re-evaluate a student, or soliciting additional evaluations from other faculty or housestaff. Further appeals may be made to the Pediatric Education Council or the Dean of Student Affairs.
