The Dean's Office of Student Academic Support and Strategic Programs (OSASSP) at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is dedicated to providing a range of opportunities and services for undergraduate and medical students seeking careers in the health professions. The Assisting Students Achieve Medical Degrees (ASAMD) Project includes the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP) supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

The OSASSP provides assistance to medical students through peer tutoring and workshops. In addition to these programs and services, the OSASSP is involved in several collaborative international initiatives with developing countries involving the exchange of knowledge and services related to medical education, health care, capacity building, and sustainable development.
