- "Modeling blood diseases through patient derived induced pluripotent stem cells"
Embryonic stem (ES) and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells can be expanded in culture and induced to differentiate into many clinically relevant tissue types. In addition, these cells are amenable to genetic manipulation through rapidly advancing gene editing techniques. Through these properties, ES/iPS cells offer great potential for modeling human genetic diseases and creating tissues for regenerative therapy. I will discuss our efforts in these areas as they relate to human blood disorders. - URL:
