    Penetrating Keratoplasty


    • Wear eye patch and shield until return appointment
    • Reinforce with tape if shield comes loose tonight


    • Resume all reasonable activities until further instructions at your appointment
    • Sleep in normal position as long as shield stays in place, but try to avoid rolling onto the side of the eye that had surgery


    • You may have mild discomfort tonight and may take whatever over the counter medication that you would take if you had a headache
    • Resume all of your normal medications

    Call Dr. Olsakovsky at 434-924-1184 if you develop any of the follow problems before your appointment:

    • Increasing eye pain or headache that does not get better with acetaminophen or ibuprofen (Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, etc.)
    • Nausea and / or vomiting

    If problems arise at night or after the office is closed or on the weekend:
