policy 0327 : Cardiac Monitoring Orders

The Medical Center is committed to creating and maintaining cardiac monitoring processes that are responsive to patients’ needs and maximize patient safety and treatment outcomes. Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIPs) shall be responsible for ordering cardiac monitoring in accordance with Medical Center Policy No. 0109 “Medical Orders for Patient Care” , evaluating patients for continuation of Cardiac Monitoring clinical indications, and modifying orders as needed based on the patient’s condition (“Cardiac Monitoring”). All inpatients requiring cardiac monitoring shall have a cardiac monitoring order entered into the patient’s Electronic Medical Record (“EMR”). Any need for modification to Cardiac Monitoring Orders shall be ordered by a LIP and documented in the patient’s EMR.
