policy 0192 : Medical Treatment of Prisoners

When providing medical care to prisoners, the University of Virginia Medical Center shall provide for the safety of other patients, visitors, and employees. Corrections officers who escort prisoners shall be informed of the Medical Center's policies relevant to the medical treatment of prisoners and the channels of clinical, security and administrative communications. The Medical Center has assigned to its Security and University Police personnel the responsibility for coordinating all non-clinical aspects of the prisoner's visit.
