Room Set Up and Safety Checks:
- Check the set temperature on the rooming in room before bringing infant and family to room
– Must be set and reading 72-74 degrees F so that infant will not get cold
– Document in Epic in Care Plan Flowsheet that the room temperature was checked and what the temperature was
- Ensure patient is correctly admitted to room monitor
- Ensure “all alarms off warning” is disabled prior to turning display off
- Ensure the monitor displays centrally on the full-disclosure monitor to include audible alarms in C and H pods
- Verify all safety equipment per unit guideline, including:
– Oxygen blender
– Home equipment (if indicated)
– Self-inflating bag
– Flow-inflating bag with appropriate size mask
– Suction canister and tubing
– Suction catheter
– stethoscope
