    Medication Quirks:

    • Albumin: Do not infuse through PICC
    • Amphotericin: Flush before and after with D5W (not saline)
    • Calcium Chloride & Calcium Gluconate: Dilute 1:1 with sterile water
    • Dobutamine & Dopamine: Administer through central line whenever possible
    • Enoxaparin: Monitor anti-factor Xa levels (goal 0.5-1unit/mL)
    • Epoprostenol (Flolan): Administer through separate IV line; do not interrupt infusion/have spare syringe at bedside, cover with brown plastic (protect from light)
    • Fentanyl: Rapid infusion may cause chest wall rigidity
    • Furosemide: Protect from light, > 30min prior or after gentamycin
    • Heparin: Monitor aPTT and/or ACT values and adjust dosing
    • Ibuprofen & Indomethacin: Obtain labs (Plt, BUN/Creat)
    • Insulin: Pre-prime tubing according to infusion protocol
    • Potassium Chloride: Flush line with 0.5-1ml maintenance fluid for 30 min after infusion
