guideline 2.227 : Total Artificial Heart Guideline (Syncardia TAH)

To outline the clinical management of a patient supported with Syncardia Total Artificial Heart (TAH). The Syncardia TAH may be utilized as a bridge to cardiac transplantation in a patient with bi-ventricular failure unresponsive to maximum conventional treatment. The TAH replaces both ventricles of the patient to provide pulsatile circulation. Metabolic abnormalities and hemodynamic instability may be reversed in the patient supported with a TAH, improving overall physiological status prior to transplantation.
