guideline 2.221b : Stroke - Endovascular Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke

Emergent treatment of patients with acute ischemic stroke remains a focus of ongoing clinical research, with the clinical practice of endovascular therapy, and the selection of patients for these procedures, being a dynamic field. The practice of endovascular therapy for acute ischemic stroke at the University of Virginia Medical Center is guided by the most recent position and guideline statements by the major North American and European stroke specialty societies, as well as recently reported randomized, controlled clinical trial data. The following statement summarizes the current state of evidence to guide the selection and treatment of acute ischemic stroke patients with endovascular procedures.
