guideline 2.056 : Delirium Recognition & Treatment Guidelines - Adult Acute Care

The purpose of this guideline is to enhance the recognition, prevention, and treatment of delirium in the acutely ill adult patient and provide nursing and medical guidance for these patients. The guideline encompasses: (1) Description of and resources for the screening tool, Nu-DESC (Nursing Delirium screening) utilized for routine RN assessment of patients and for subsequent assessments based on changes in patient condition. (2) Guidance for provider assessment, treatment, and documentation for delirium including pharmacologic guidance. (3) Guidance for nursing prevention and treatment based on non-pharmacologic recommendations and interventions. [contact: Cheri Blevins]
