protocol 1.127a : Pneumococcal Vaccination - Nurse-driven Protocol, Adult Ambulatory Care

This Protocol describes the process for administration of the Pneumococcal Immunization with pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV 13) and pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPSV 23) to current and active patients within the ambulatory setting at the University of Virginia Health System clinics and practices through the use of a standing order. This is to reduce morbidity and mortality from pneumococcal disease by vaccinating all adults (≥ 65yo) who meet the criteria established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
