Why choose The UVa Children's Hospital Heart Center?

UVa's special expertise

The University of Virginia Children's Hospital has teamed up with independent pediatric cardiologists throughout the state to create the UVa Children's Hospital Heart Center. This first-of-its-kind network was created to provide the best care for infants, children and young adults who have congenital and acquired cardiovascular diseases.

Experts in our congenital heart disease programs diagnose and treat all types of congenital or suspected heart disorders.  Your referring physician is part of the multidisciplinary team at UVa, led by pediatric and adult cardiologists with specific training in congenital heart disease.  The team is made up of specialists in electrophysiciology, heart failure, interventional cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, anesthesia, maternal-fetal medicine, genetics and nursing specialists in pediatric and adult cardiology.

This degree of collaboration results in shorter inpatient stays for complex problems and ensures continuity of care and long-term follow-up.
