- Clinical Trials UVa has a very strong clinical trials program for cancer. For a full listing, click here
- Gamma Knife, a powerful instrument designed to direct radiation to tumors in the brain, without performing brain surgery. UVa has one of two Gamma Knives in the state and pioneered the use of this technology.
- Tomotherapy, one of the most advanced radiation therapy systems in the world, capable of pinpointing tumors in real time and delivering highly focused radiation directly to the affected area, limiting damage to healthy tissue.
- PET/CT an advanced imaging system capable of finding some tumors before they are visible on more traditional systems.
