- High definition, narrow band endoscope, a special scope that allows doctors to find pre-cancerous growths previously only identifiable through exploratory surgery.
- Argon Plasma Coagulation, UVa was first in the state to offer this advanced intervention used to stop bleeding, and to treat vascular conditions and to shrink tumors in the digestive system.
- Radio Frequency Interstitial Thermal Ablation to locate and remove previously inoperable tumors.
- Endoscopic Ultrasound, a highly accurate scope that uses ultrasound to locate tumors that are traditionally only identifiable through exploratory surgery.
