We offer 40 years of experience in cardiovascular care with a staff of more than 600 people working toward one goal -- caring for you.  We carefully determine which technologies are most appropriate for diagnosing heart and vascular problems, and follow how well our patients do as their disease is treated.  Our multidisciplinary team includes cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiovascular nurses, nutritionists, social workers, physical therapists, exercise physiologists and others.

Innovation, Research & Education
Here at UVa, scientists and physicians work side-by-side to bring research discoveries from the lab to the patient’s bedside.  This collaboration makes UVa a leader in research with many “firsts” that directly benefit patients:  the discovery of adenosine for treatment of heart rhythm disturbances, pioneering diagnostic imaging tests and arrhythmia devices, and opening blocked coronary arteries using angioplasty and stents.   We perform the largest volume of heart transplants in the state.   Current research examines the links between diabetes and cardiovascular disease and new ways to reverse coronary heart disease, the number one killer in the United States.  Through teaching and learning, our physicians constantly create better solutions for diagnosing and treating heart and vascular disease, from new therapies to devices and surgical procedures.
