UVa Health System is one of only a dozen digestive medical centers in the world to have a top-ranked Digestive Health Center and a National Cancer Institute Clinical Cancer Center. This makes us uniquely capable of diagnosing, treating and addressing colon cancer for our patients. The Digestive Health Center of Excellence is internationally known for its work in the research of digestive disorders and disease, and is one of only 16 National Institutes of Health Silvio O. Conte Digestive Disease Research Core Centers in the world. We are proud to offer world-class clinical skill to those living in the region. Ultimately, our mission is to advance the standard of care for patients in our community as well as the world. Our faculty are actively involved in research and are some of the best-known names in their respective specialties.
