A Phase III Trial Evaluating the Role of Ovarian Function Suppression and the Role of Exemestane as Adjuvant Therapies for Premenopausal Women with Endocrine Responsive Breast Cancer IBCSG 24-02 (SOFT)
UVa Health System, Department of Medicine, Hematology/Oncology seeks premenopausal women ages 18 and over with breast cancer for a research study.
The purpose of the study is to compare different methods of hormonal suppression in women with breast cancer that is sensitive to the hormone estrogen. This study involves taking experimental medication, physical exams, blood tests, pregnancy tests for female patients and brief questionnaires during the study. Treatment consists of taking oral medication on a daily basis. At least 15 visits will be required over the course of the study. The treatment period should last 5 years and then your medical condition is followed on an annual basis.
Study-related experimental medication provided free of charge.
Participant's insurance company will be billed for medication including Tamoxifen and ovarian suppression treatment, tests and procedures.
