Coping with Cancer

There are few experiences more dispiriting or lonely than the diagnosis of cancer.

Cancer is not only an affront to physical well-being, but can also be a terrific shock to the sense of self, capable of stripping away many comforting beliefs and assumptions of mortality.

Here at the University of Virginia Cancer Center, our goal is to restore our patients and their families to wholeness, both emotionally and physically, while helping them live with the diagnosis of cancer. We give them the best medical care possible, while weaving a net of support around them so they are not going through this journey alone.
